Amnesiac Kid A Radiohead tour

RADIOHEAD are believed to be entering the studio before the end of the year to start recording their sixth album – just weeks after the release of their fourth LP ‘Kid A’ and several months ahead of their as-yet-untitled fifth effort.

Music365 has learned that recording for the album could start as after the band finish their UK and Ireland tour, which winds up in Dublin in October.

The band are already thought to have finished their fifth album, and will mix it in November. The album is expected to include several tracks that the band have played on their recent live shows in Europe, including ‘Knives Out’ and ‘Dollars And Cents’.

It is described as being a more traditional alternative guitar album than the more electronic ‘Kid A’. 

Music365 has learned that the band want to start recording another album as soon as possible – and with ‘Kid A’s successor rumored to be ready for release as early as next spring, this could mean Radiohead releasing three albums within 18 months. 

Radiohead are also expected to continue touring in small bursts next year, which may see them return to Europe as well as visiting the USA, Japan and Australasia. 

A spokesperson for Radiohead, however, could not confirm any studio time before the end of the year.

About the L.A. show

Many have asked about when tickets will go on-sale for the upcoming Radiohead show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on October 20. Nothing is known yet so stay tuned. Once anything is known, it’ll be here.

Those blips invade MTV

MTV America has started showing a Radiohead blip called “Bear Witch“, a parody of the Blair Witch Project, in which bears jump out of the forest.

More blips will supposedly appear tonight on MTV at 11pm. Along with the “Bear Witch“, the “White Mountains” and “Giants” blips will be also be shown.

Shut ’em down

Yesterday we reported that the Vancouver radio station, 104.9 XFM, was playing “Optimistic” on the air. The station was set to play it again last night but couldn’t cause they received a cease and desist fax from EMI. Coincidentally, Thom was on the official message board about 30 minutes earlier and made a comment about it.

Radio stations around North America will begin to play “Optimistic” on September 18th, legally. 🙂

Bjork on working with Thom

Bjork was recently interview by Time Out and said the following about working with Thom on “I’ve Seen It All”:

“It was my idea to work with Thom. We spent four days in Spain just singing as and when we felt like it. He doesn’t do things lightly.”

RADIOHEAD’s long-awaited new album ‘KID A’ will be unveiled on Friday morning (August 18) – and nme.com will be among the first people in the world to hear it.

Our reporter will be on hand to bring a track-by-track report as soon as the playback has taken place, at 10am in a secret location in north London.

In other Radiohead news, mystery surrounds a press release, supposedly from the US, which has been “leaked.” It claims that the release of ‘Kid A’ will be accompanied by, amongst other things, a direct link to ‘Lost Children’ – a hidden website containing constantly changing Radiohead rarities, a “four-hour webcast at the end of August from the band’s studio in Oxford” and a live performance at the Air studios in London on September 4-5 for 200-300 invited guests.

A UK spokesperson for the band has been unable to confirm or deny the authenticity of the “press release”.

She told nme.com that some of the information on the release was “definitely true”, such as the band producing a series of animated “video blips” which will be used for Internet and regional promotion, but questioned the other, more ambitious claims on the release.

There is currently no confirmation on the official Radiohead website, www.radiohead.com, and the more credible unofficial band sites, such aswww.followmearound.com have dismissed the release as a hoax.
