UPDATED: Lego Version of Just Video

We reported earlier about a LJ user who had 109 Radiohead icons available for your pleasure. Well, digging a little deeper, we find that this enterprising young lass has, using a PC and a webcam, redone the entire video for Just using Legos. Now, here at GP, we’re not only Radiohead fans, we’re keen on those Legos too, and to find something that blends both, well, warrants a mention.
One interesting side effect we’ve noticed about linking to someone’s personal site- it has a tendency to, ahem, go down almost immediately, so if you don’t get through at first, try try again.
(Big thanks to Ashley!)
UPDATE:As expected, Ashley got whacked with about 40gigs worth of download in about 3 hours (don’t worry, we asked her first). So that’s it for her personal webpage for a while. But fear not- she’ll be moving to a better place, a place with unlimited bandwidth, very soon, and we’ll relink when the time is right.
Also, we should mention that this link did appear on the CUTW Message Boards (good people over there- we love the At Ease boards too, but sometimes you need a bit less noise) before it appeared here. Credit where credit is due…

Coachella Day 1 Sold Out

For the poor souls who simply could not be bothered clicking over to buy their tickets (or who could not steal someone’s credit card in time to do so), some bad news- day one of Coachella, which features Radiohead as the headliner, is now sold out. No more camping tickets remain, either.
Does this mean you should stop checking? Nope- nearly everyone knows that there will be sporadic clumps of tickets released in the days leading up to the event. Credit cards are rejected, people cancel, and VIP tickets go unredeemed. It all comes down to exactly how much time you are willing to sit in front of your computer hitting refresh, knowing full well that nothing will be available until the moment you get up for a smoke.

Monday News Roundup

Lots to report, so here we go-
*w.a.s.t.e. sent us an April update. Amongst other things, there’s a new poster and a new shirt for sale. They’re also having a sale on some of the older shirts, and, most interestingly, they are offering two Radiohead ringtones- not of familiar songs, but of lovely ambient sounds- Friendly Fire and I Get Louder (we highly recommend the latter- should scare the children).
*Bodysong will be screened at the rapidly approaching Coachella Festival.
*The tour continues in Japan, with no new songs in the setlist yet (but one in the soundcheck both days at the Intex). Almost time to give the Aussies their turn…
*If you pick up an issue of Record Collector magazine, they have an article called Prog- Then…..and Now, which has a chart of every Radiohead single, album, promo, and EP released, along with their catalog numbers, chart positions, and net value. Did you know that the Drill EP was worth nearly US$500 on CD?
*LJ user ashley_sama has been kind enough to collect, make, and post 109 quite groovy RH IM/LJ icons for your pleasure. Check ’em out here, and say thank you to her.
*Radiohead: TV DVD was supposed to be out by now. So naturally, everyone wants to know- where is it? The truth is, nobody knows. In fact, in a sign that is NOT encouraging, contacts at EMI have confessed to having no idea what I’m talking about when I inquired about it. So, until some official word comes down the pipe, consider this a bust.
(Thanks to At Ease, CUTW, Tommy, and Jo.)

The Daily Yomiuri Loves RH

Japanese paper Daily Yomiuri has a nice article about Radiohead’s earlier performance. An excerpt-

If you asked music pundits to name the best gig they saw in Japan last year, chances are many–if not all–of them would agree on Radiohead’s performance at Summer Sonic in August.

As the day moved from afternoon to evening and the unbearable summer heat began to die down, headliners Radiohead took to the Chiba Marine Stadium stage on the second day of the two-day event and stole the hearts of the audience at the sold-out venue.

With their latest album Hail to the Thief under their belts, the quintet from Oxford, England, started off their set with the first single off the album, “There There,” and went on to play about 20 songs, including “Creep,” one of the band’s best-known masterpieces, which has long been excluded from their set lists. When the band broke into that number, a wave of excitement shot through the loudly cheering audience, who hadn’t expected to hear it played.

The night has since become a piece of music history, and deejays and music critics alike picked the gig as the best live performance of the year in their respective year-end lists.

I can’t help but agree- there’s nothing like seeing Radiohead take the stage at the end of a festival. 20,000 of us will never forget the way they took the Field Day debacle and made it worthwhile. Those headed out to Coachella are in for a treat indeed.
You can read the whole thing here.
