Blast From the Past: Radiohead at Reading 1994

Okay, so the video quality isn’t that great but the audio is top notch. This is from Radiohead’s 12 song set at the Reading Festival in 1994. Things were different then… Thom had blond hair, Ed was in his pirate shirt phase, Phil had hair, Jonny is wearing mom jeans, and Colin looks to be wearing a quilt. With that said, this is still a great video to watch. Thom starts out singing a cover of Tim Buckley’s “Sing a Song For You” which reminds us just how great his voice can be.

Atoms for Peace: Oakland Night #2

Atoms for Peace

Atoms for Peace played their second show at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA last night. We were there and can tell you it was a pretty amazing experience. I’ve seen Radiohead countless times and never have I seen Thom Yorke so energetic. He was all over the place, literally. As in previous shows, Atoms for Peace played a lot of from The Eraser, as well as some new tracks.

The final encore brought a cover of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” which had been heard before during soundchecks on the tour but never played to an audience. As you can imagine, the crowd went nuts and it was a great way to end the show.

Conan O’Brien covers Radiohead’s “Creep”

Conan O'BrienRadiohead and Conan O’Brien have always had a connection. If you didn’t know, Radiohead was the very first musical guest on Conan’s show back in 1993, which was also the band’s first TV appearance in the US. So, it’s no surprise to hear that Conan covered “Creep” during his soundcheck in Eugene, Oregon. Conan’s currently touring his comedy show, The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour.

Here you go:

Here’s Radiohead’s performance on Conan back in 1993:

UPDATE: Actually, we should correct ourselves. Radiohead’s first televised US appearance was on the Arsenio Hall show, a few months before the Conan show. Check it:
