Stanley Donwood is Dazed and Confused

There is an interview with Stanley Donwood in the latest issue of Dazed and Confused, available now in fine bookstores. Here’s a little snippet:

Stanley Donwood has been ?in? with Radiohead since his Exeter uni days. Here, he gives a glimpse into what inspires visuals every bit as inspiring as Thom Yorke?s music.
?After many false starts I began working on the series of pictures that I called ?London Views?. The series eventually became a panorama that stretches from the outer reaches of the Thames estuary upstream as far as Battersea, destroying the Flood Barrier, Canary Wharf, The Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament and much more besides.?
Read the full article in Issue *40 of Dazed and Confused magazine.

And now for something completely different: Thom is a zombie!

OK Computer Coming to DVD

A new Radiohead DVD, OK Computer: Classic Album Under Review, will be released via Music Video Distributors and Sexy Intellectual on September 19. The 53-minute film reviews Radiohead’s 1997 masterpiece track by track. Contributors include writer/journalist/Radiohead: A Guide to Their Music author Mark Paytress, ex-MOJO editor Barney Hoskyns, Radiohead biographer Alex Ogg, and more.
Rare live and studio performances of each OK Computer song (and Pablo Honey’s “Creep”) will be featured in good ol’ 5.1 surround sound. In addition, the disc will house “The Hardest Interactive Radiohead Quiz in the World Ever”, full contributor biographies, and a “Beyond DVD” section, whatever that means.
Radiohead have wrapped up their extensive North American tour and will break for a bit before making a series of August festival performances.

Thom Thom Thom!

oxfam_thomyorke.jpgSo we’ve been on vacation for a week and came back to everyone talking about Thom Yorke and his new album The Eraser. Even my Dad was talking about him after hearing the Fresh Air interview. If you haven’t heard the interview yet, check it out here.
Yes, The Eraser is everywhere. Thom is everywhere. As we reported earlier, Thom was on Henry Rollin’s show recently. You can view both performances via YouTube now. Check them out.
The biggest news now is that Thom has been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, which is one of Britain’s most prestigious music awards. Other nominees are:
Arctic Monkeys, Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not
Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan, Ballad of the Broken Seas
Editors, The Back Room
Guillemots, Through the Windowpane
Richard Hawley, Coles Corner
Hot Chip, The Warning
Muse, Black Holes & Revelations
Zoe Rahman, Melting Pot
Lou Rhodes, Beloved One
Scritti Politti, White Bread Black Beer
Sway, This Is My Demo
Thom Yorke, The Eraser
This year’s winner will be announced on September 5. Both Thom and the Arctic Monkeys are considered favorites to win.
So run out and grab your copy of The Eraser. It’s actually available through iTunes which is surprising since in the past, none of the albums in Radiohead’s catalog have been available.
