Radiohead star opens charity centre

Radiohead’s Phil Selway is due to open a new centre for the Samaritans. Mr Selway, a volunteer with the charity, was unveiling the building in Oxford on Friday. The state-of-the-art centre in Magdalen Road features interview and meeting rooms.

“It’s a very impressive place,” Mr Selway told BBC Oxford Online.

Radiohead and the Samaritans are polar opposites…but they do provide a good contrast. Phil Selway: “For an organisation that’s based on volunteers it’s incredibly professionally run. I think this comes across in the centre.”

Mr Selway became a Samaritan when he was a student in Liverpool in the 1980s.

More tour rumors

We’ve just been told about a possible set of dates in Spain this July. The info comes from this site and it says (translated from Spanish):

“…the concerts would take place during three or four consecutive days in Salamanca Theater, a pretty hall with a capacity of 1000, ideal to create an intimate atmosphere of Radiohead’s music. Although it is not yet an official confirmation, it seems that the negotiations are very advanced.”

So, add this to the list of places, which also include Portugal and Brazil, Radiohead are rumored to be playing this year.
