“Harrowdown Hill” at SXSW

Thom Yorke’s video for “Harrowdown Hill” will be screened at this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Here are the deets:

SCREENING TIMES:
10:30 PM, Saturday March 10th – Dobie
11:30 AM, Saturday March 17th – Dobie
Director: Chel White
Cast: Thom Yorke, David Russo
Format: HDCam
Synopsis:
While Harrodown Hill is based on the controversial suicide case of British scientist and weapons inspector David Kelly, the video does not reference the case literally but rather does so through metaphor and symbolic imagery. White’s video is a quietly intense call to consciousness in an age of disinformation, preemptive war and unprecedented governmental secrecy.

Of course, you don’t need to go to Austin to see this video. It’s been out for some time and can be seen at YouTube.

News for March 21, 1999

Here’s another press release about “Meeting People is Easy”:

Hollywood and Vine Teams Up with SonicNet and Broadcast.com to Chat with Radiohead Film Director and Host Exclusive 24-Hour Preview
01:38 p.m Mar 19, 1999 Eastern

NEW YORK–(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)–March 19, 1999–To help kick-off a month long, five-city tour of the behind-the-scenes, multi-media collage about Radiohead, “Meeting People Is Easy,” film and video director Grant Gee will chat on SonicNet on Monday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT. Preceding the web chat, Broadcast.com will run a 15-minute excerpt for 24 hours, giving fans the opportunity to preview the film before the chat. The preview begins on Sunday, March 21st at 7:00 PM ET/4:00 PM PT. Fans can view the film and join the chat by logging onto http://www.hollywoodandvine.com. They can also enter a random drawing during the chat to win a DVD copy of the film upon release.

After premiering at the SXSW Music and Film Conference in Austin, TX on March 20th, “Meeting People Is Easy” will show in theaters for a limited time in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and San Francisco before being released as a home video and DVD on May 4th. A full screening itinerary follows on the back (please note New York Angelika Film Center screenings are now Friday and Saturday, April 2-3).

For those asking about how and where to get tickets to the screenings, the Music Box Theater box office in Chicago will be selling them just like they would sell tickets to any other movie. I’m assuming that this is the same for all the other theaters showing the film. Contact the box offices for more info.

On the rumor front, it seems that Radiohead will be contributing to a Smiths tribute album in the near future. That is all the info that I have. The band are big fans of the Smiths and Ed has said in interviews that “the Smiths were the reason Radiohead formed.”
