O’Riley show

Here’s some information we received about Christopher O’Riley doing a show at Joe’s Pub in New York on July 10, 2003:

Christopher O’Riley is an artist whose passion and understanding of the genius of Radiohead have led Sony Classical to release “True Love Waits,” an album of his original solo piano transcriptions of some of Radiohead’s greatest songs. “True Love Waits” features his unique
re-imagining of this Brit prog-rock phenomenon’s music and continues to demonstrate the articulate and insightful musicianship that he applies to his well-known interpretations of Stravinsky and Scriabin. ?Also the host of the popular public radio show, “From The Top,” Christopher O’Riley’s career demonstrates that relevance and classical music need not be anathema to each other. Last year’s sold-out NY concert of this material at the Miller Theater inspired the NY Sun to write, “O’Riley has made a statement about what constitutes good serious music and why it needn’t be commissioned by a symphony orchestra to deserve attention. [His] transcriptions proved that Radiohead can be as unfailingly moving for true compositional reasons as any working classical composer…” ??www.christopheroriley.com ?
