Still waiting on that In Rainbows album cover

We’re still not entirely convinced that what we posted the other day is the official cover for In Rainbows. We’ve received a lot of email that pointed out some typography and design differences with what is shown in the discbox image. Also, it doesn’t help that Stanley told us that the official artwork is not online yet:

not yet. maybe soonish, maybe not. going to ‘think about it’

Okay. In the meantime, if you want to some cool fan-made album covers, check out this site.

(thanks to Rex and Peter)

Radiohead sell 1.2 million copies of In Rainbows worldwide.

Gigwise is reporting that the 1.2 million copies of In Rainbows have been sold worldwide. This is apparently from a “source close to the band” so nothing official has been announced.

Head on over to Gigwise to see the article.

We have gotten our hands on the actual album cover for In Rainbows for you to use on your iPod or whatever mp3 device you use. Many thanks to Leslie at tube.hk and radiohead.com.hk for clueing us in to this.

Update… Errr.. This may be the back of the album actually. We’re working to get the front for you asap.

Update again… We got another one (above) which is probably the actual cover. There is still confusion about which one it is which we’ll hopefully clear up for you.

In Rainbows lyrics

Since there were no lyrics included with the download, it’s been left up to the fans to try and figure them out. We have most from live performances which you can find in our lyrics page, but we need your help with some of the unknown ones like “Faust Arp” and the totally different “Reckoner”. If you have a good ear and want to take a stab, send them on over to us. Of course, if Thom wanted to just save everyone the trouble he could post them on Dead Air Space. Just sayin’. 🙂

Interview with Jonny Greenwood

Jonny did an interview with Gothamist which talks about all the stuff he’s been doing lately. We definitely recommend you reading it. Here’s a snippit about the new album:

What’s motivating the band to distribute the album this way? Just getting it out quickly. It was kind of an experiment as well; we were just doing it for ourselves and that was all. People are making a big thing about it being against the industry or trying to change things for people but it’s really not what motivated us to do it. It’s more about feeling like it was right for us and feeling bored of what we were doing before.

Why give people the option to pay whatever they want? It’s just interesting to make people pause for even a few seconds and think about what music is worth now. I thought it was an interesting thing to ask people to do and compare it to whatever else in their lives they value or don’t value.

Have you gotten any figures of how much people are choosing to pay? No we get the numbers tomorrow supposedly. Yeah, I don’t know. The more exciting thing for me is just hearing it on the radio today and knowing it’s landed on everybody’s desk at the same time. That’s what’s exciting. But yeah, I’m sure our manager will have some idea soon.

And then skip down to this which will surely interest you:

Are you working out plans to tour in America at this point? We’re talking about touring somewhere in the world next year. Now that the album’s out that’s what we’re talking about. I hope you’ll get to see some good shows.
