Dead Air Space Updated

It’s been a while since the band has done a proper update to their Dead Air Space blog so we were happy to see that Thom had updated today with some news about trying to get everyone motivated to stay in the studio.

wish away the nightmare
wish away the nightmare
you got a light you can feel it on your back
you got a light you can feel it on your back
you just got paid
you just got paid
so here we are with spike stent in our studio which now looks like NASA.
and we are being taken to task.
we ar e having to shake the dust off. no more bullshit.
stop answering the phones and thinking of excuses to leave the building.
instead get on with it.
jonny said today that since we were last radiohead, between us, we’ve had six children or rather our partners have, this may perhaps have something to do with our lack of focus.
but as this rock n roll we aint supposed to discuss this.. deny it every happened etc. what bullshit.
ofcourse there ar ethe other distractions,
sitting in the garden with your 12bore shotgun,
large orchestras doing drum machine noises,
getting suits made,
puppies,
canal boats,
beer,
modular synthesis,
lego,
tax investigations,
global warming and the end of life as we know it,
traffic,
deafness,
insanity,
normality.
whatever.
Thom

Old New Radiohead News

We apologize for the not updating thing… really. In all honesty, things have been quite hectic and there hasn’t been time to give this site the proper attention it deserves. Fear not, faithful GP visitor! We intend to get back on track and provide you with the latest and greatest Radiohead information.
So, what’s new with Radiohead? We all know that they are in the process of recording their follow-up album to 2003’s Hail to the Thief. There is no release date set for the untitled album but if we were a betting site, we would wager that it is released this Fall. Don’t quote us on that, okay? Big news is that long time producer and “unofficial sixth member” Nigel Godrich will not involved with producing the album. Ed O’Brien recently mentioned that they had been talking to Mark “Spike” Stent, who worked with Madonna and Bjork, and that they plan to reconvene with him in February.
To test the new songs, the band plans to launch an American tour this Summer. We don’t have dates or cities yet, but expect them to be visiting major cities like Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and Chicago to name a few. We do know that selected venues around the country have been approached by Radiohead for possible dates.
There are also rumors about appearances at Festivals like Coachella and Bonaroo, though again, these are just rumors. While there is a chance that they would play the Bonnaroo festival, the chances of also playing Coachella are slim. Bonnaroo is a music festival held in Manchester, Tennessee June 16-18 while Coachella, which the band played before in 2004, is held in Indio, California April 29-30.
Speaking of festivals, Radiohead should be playing the V Festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffs, on August 19-20, 2006 in the UK. This hasn’t officially been confirmed to us by Radiohead’s people but looks like it may happen.
Stay tuned!!

Chicago Nixes Radiohead Performance

Hey there… been a long time? Sorry for the lack of updates. The holidays are always hectic and we’ve been off doing less important things.
Not much going on in Radiohead World, although some interesting news is coming from SPIN:

Supervisors of Chicago’s brand new, gleaming gem — a Frank Gehry-designed music pavilion within Millennium Park — claim that they want to have more popular music performances, but clearly actions speak louder than words: City officials have vetoed Radiohead’s request to play the venue on June 19 and 20. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago’s Cultural Affairs Department turned down Radiohead’s appeal “even though the group would have paid rental fees of $100,000 — because the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to hold a rehearsal June 20.”
“Free public programming is part of the venue’s mission,” a spokesperson for the Cultural Affairs Department said. “We have to support organizations such as the Grant Park Orchestra, but we’re open to other events if there are availabilities at other times” — like a private corporate event for Toyota that cost $800,000 and closed the park to the public last summer. According to the Sun-Times, Radiohead still hopes to return to Chicago this summer regardless of whether or not they can play at Millennium.

In addition to Chicago, Radiohead plan to play in many other cities across the United States this Summer. Stay tuned…
